So, Rep. Anthony Weiner finally came clean the other day and admitted he did infact tweet a lude photo of himself.
What was supposed to be a direct tweet to someone ended up being shared with the entire Twittisphere.
Oh, boy! Not good.
I guess we could say the first rule in Chiropractic Twitter Marketing is make sure you know how to use whatever application you’re using to send tweets. But, that’s a discussion for a different day.
Instead, let’s cover some big news and what you as a chiropractor need to know to reap maximum results from Twitter.
First off, the other day Apple announced to the over 5,000 attendees at their WWDC conference that the new mobile operating system for the iPhone and iPad (scheduled to be released this Fall) now has deep integration with Twitter… even including the Twitter app on every device.
Meaning: iPhone and iPad users will have one-click integration within most of their applications to send tweets. And, be able to read and respond to tweets right from their device.
This, in and of itself, is big for Twitter… because it will most certainly lead to an even bigger increase in tweets and the usage of Twitter. Another reason for you to be using Twitter as part of your chiropractic social media marketing.
Second, just hours after Apple’s announcement, Twitter President of Global Revenue Adam Bain appeared at the Federated Media Summit in New York City to discuss the social network’s growing reach and high levels of user engagement.
According to Bain, “80% of Twitter engagement consists of people clicking on a Tweet, while the remaining 20% is a Retweet or a Tweet.”
What this tells us is that the best way to create engagement on Twitter with your followers is to provide links within your tweets.
Links to what?
Well, as a chiropractor, one of the most productive uses of Twitter for you is to share relevant information and news items with your followers about health, wellness, fitness, nutrition, etc.
By doing so, it will help to position you as a valuable health and wellness resource.
And, with added comments/editorial on these tweets and links, it will help to position you as a thought-leader and expert in the area of health and wellness.
(There’s a full training video inside of the Millionaire Chiropractic Club called, “How To Become A Chiropractic Rock-Star in Just 10-Minutes A Day” that demonstrates a slick system for staying on top of the latest health and wellness news across the web, and how to quickly share it via web 2.0. I highly recommend you watch it.)
Please understand:
With valued health and wellness authority positioning, you become the go-to chiropractor in your area for prospective patients looking for an expert. As well, “fee resistance” disappears when you’re perceived as an authority and expert.
And, equally as important, with a thought-leadership web 2.0 strategy like this, you achieve top-of-the-mind awareness with the prospective patients who aren’t quite ready to get started with chiropractic care right now, but will be at some time in the future.
What’s the best way to implement this Twitter strategy?
I recommend you integrate Twitter with your own Chiropractic Facebook Page.
You can set up your Facebook Page to automatically post to your Twitter account anytime you post an update on your Page. (There’s evidence that shows you get better reach on Facebook when you post to your Facebook Page from within Facebook, and then have Facebook share with Twitter, rather than visa-versa.)
With this approach, you’re only posting to your Facebook Page, but also getting the benefit of Twitter.
Just remember:
The key is to share relevant and valuable information and news items about health and wellness… including some personal commentary… and with a link to the original content.
And, oh yeah… leave the underwear photos to the politicians.

Interesting that u realize the devastating effects of posting a lude picture on the “twittispher”… But u still have not taken out the picture of the naked girl getting an x-ray in the Chiropractors office + the naked girls swaying happily on a swing in your New Patient Autoresponder videos. What r u waiting for?
Todd,
Great post and use of a timely news story to tie in the use of Twitter. Your tips aren’t limited to the chiropractic industry, so I appreciate your info on your post.
Do you have the source for the stats revealing posting FB-Twitter versus Twitter-FB gets better results?
Again, great informative post…and a lesson that everyone should learn: Be careful about what you Tweet!
Ed
Hey Amy… I’m not sure what you’re referring to. Let me know what video and how many minutes in. Now you’ve got my attention.
Thanks Ed.
The stats come from our own Facebook Insight numbers and that of some of our online marketing partners.
What’s been seen… and it’s certainly not conlusive… is that posts made within Facebook, rather than via a third-party source… get greater impressions from a longer life on Fans’ newsfeeds.
It’s something you can look at with your own Page Insights. Let me know if you also get similar results.
Good post, Todd…lol. Seriously, what are the chances that a guy with a the last name Weiner gets exposed for showing his wiener?
I don’t know how the heck the news anchors keep a straight face
Hey Matthew… totally agree. It just makes it so much easier for them to mock the situation.
It’s “lewd”, not “lude”.
@DogsLaundry… spelling has never been my strong point.
