SEO is like Hollywood. One day your on top making HUGE money you fans love you. The next day they find out you are living with your two boys, two prior hookers, smoked a pound of crack and that you are well crazy as can be.
Ok enough making fun of Charlie Sheen. But the truth is SEO or search engine optimization is just as dirty as Hollywood.
While many people claim great results what they do to achieve those results can be as dirty as Charlie Sheen (ok, really I will stop making fun of him one day).
As in almost anything there are right ways and wrong ways to do thing. Wrong ways can seem really sexy because they are fast, easy and make you money!
For example wrong way – cheat on taxes – you get more money everyone is happy then the IRS finds your “errors” you get slapped hard fines maybe even jail.
Well the search engines particularly Google is much like the IRS. You may get away with shady things for a while. Maybe for ever.
BUT if they catch you your site could disappear from Google for a long time maybe for ever. You could be embarrassed publicly (JCPenny was by the NY Times for shady SEO practices).
Whats to say a local journalist won’t do it to you to be like the NY times.
So the question becomes… What is shady?
That is more a debate then a question. You will hear the terms “white hat” and “black hat”. The truth is very few companies are one or the other.
Most would be “Grey Hat”.
I have found that most companies that preach they are “white hat” are the worst.
So how does the consumer know or choose the right seo provider?
The best way is a solid track record. Google changes there “secret sauce” or algorithm regularly to stay ahead of the other search engines. So they can make more money by having the most users.
Users click on ads. That gives Google massive amounts of money.
So does the company you are with have a long track record of having sites at the top and that they stay at the top once they get there.
Sights that drop all the sudden that have generally been breaking the rules and are being slapped.
Companies that guarantee top spots or fast results are typically companies to watch out for.
Good real seo that is lasting can have fast results depending on the targeted area and keyword but more than likely will take months to get to the top spot.
But like I said once there will generally stay there.
SEO is everything from building the site properly to then get the site promoted on other websites like directories, blogs other relevant sites.
This is a very complicated procedure like building a car. Lots of moving pieces.
While there is no 1 right way to build a car.
Some cars obviously stand out above the rest.
And so does their price usually. SO cheap is almost also another word for short cut or bad quality.
Here are somethings that you can do and should do for your SEO:
Update your title to have you keywords in it.
Update your description to have keywords in it BUT also sound natural and inviting.
Then you need to get a plan to have your site listed on other sites and pointing back to your site.
Do this on sites that are relevant to yours whether by topic or location.
And at the end of the day if people find your site make sure the phone number is BIG, BOLD and AT the VERY TOP!
This is clean ethical and best practices SEO.
Remember it is long term work a marathon not a sprint.
Don’t be the Charlie Sheen joke of your area for SEO.
Be well.

I agree with Matt 100% and I have been using his service for the past almost 2 years now. I had used other companies that promised the world and were very expensive, but never got leads to call my office. Now with the lead of Matt’s company, we get consistent leads.
The only thing that is a real joke is the spelling, grammar and content of this poorly-written article.
If you’re going to spam us, at least write something intelligible and worthy of our busy schedules.
Hey John… sorry you didn’t care for Matt’s article.
FYI – we never send spam. At any time you can opt-out of receiving emails from us. There’s a link at the bottom of every email we send out.

I agree with the points in this article, and have been following the advice for a long time at http://www.wholehealthchiropractic.com.
However, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar are important, both in communicating what you are trying to say, and in making it easier for your reader to continue to the end. I mean, come on: “But like I said once there will generally stay there.” What does that sentence even mean? I shouldn’t have needed to read it three times to figure it out!
Good info! I’m very happy that I found this blog. BTW, There’s this awesome product at http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2033077 which I bought. You people should try it out too……its the best ebook I’ve ever purchased for so cheap.
