Facebook has just launched a brand new feature called Facebook Places. And, it has some interesting marketing potential for chiropractors.
According to Facebook, “Places is a Facebook feature that allows you to see where your friends are and share your location in the real world. When you use Places, you’ll be able to see if any of your friends are currently checked in nearby and connect with them easily. You can check into nearby Places to tell your friends where you are, tag your friends in the Places you visit, and view comments your friends have made about the Places you visit. Use Places to experience connecting with people on Facebook in a completely new way.”
Currently, the Facebook Places application is only available to users in the United States with mobile access to the Facebook application for iPhone or touch.facebook.com.
If you have an iPhone or access to one, here’s what I recommend you do right away:
Get your practice location entered into Facebook Places.
Just follow Facebook’s instructions below:
I really think Facebook Places is going to take off when the application is accessible on all devices.
For now, get your practice location into the system. I’ll be sharing updates on how best to maximize and leverage Facebook Places as a chiropractor as soon as more information becomes available.
[Sidenote: this is another reason to start using Facebook Advertising (different from social media marketing on Facebook) to promote your practice to targeted users of Facebook in your area. I can't say enough about how effective Facebook Advertising is right now.]

Hey Todd… You’re absolutely right about it taking off. With the growing success of Foursquare and Twitter, Facebook having an Alexa ranking of 2 will kick some major butt with this.
